Going botanical

Back in December an exciting new project began..

Like with everything new it’s taken a few months from planning to realisation but it has been very rewarding process.

It began with me approaching my local garden centre about the possibility of working together. Following our creative discussions we agreed on the theme of Cornish flora

The decision was made to showcase three native flowers, The Southern Marsh Orchid, Chiltern Gentian & Lily of the Nile.

Which would each be the focus of a hand drawn greeting card in traditional botanical illustration style to be exclusivly sold by Trevenson Moor Limited.

And now the times had finally come to share my illustrations with you.

Southern Marsh Orchid - Dactylorhiza praetermissa - Probably the most wide spread marsh orchid. You are most likely to spot them during the summer months of May, June and July.

Chiltern Gentian - Gentianella germanica - Considered to be one of the prettiest gentians, the Chiltern gentian is a rare plant that is only found in the UK. It likes chalk grasslands, its purple, trumpet-shaped flowers blooming from August.

Lily of the Nile - Agapanthus africanus - maybe not a wildflower but a cornish garden without one seems somehow lacking. Not only is it incredibly beautiful with its tall spikes of white or purple flowers, but it’s also low maintenance and perfect for Cornish Climate.
